Straightening hands

It is always best to remove the hands when cleaning the dial or to straighten them.

To straighten hands, use sharpened peg wood and tweezers, hold hand steady by inserting peg wood through the hole in the hand and use tweezers to manipulate hand.  You can also use a hand or balance tack to hold hand steady.  Straighten hands by bending them carefully with tweezers.  To flatten hands put them on a flat surface and rub along the hand lenghthwise with a piece of pewood or highly polished sounded steel tool.
