Carignan Watch Company recent watch repair jobs.

The watch pictured below is an antique Breguet & Fils French ¼ hour repeater we recently restored. It has three gong striking carillion automaton with two multicolor gold Greek figures and a Putti striking bells surrounding a center porcelain chapter ring of 22mm diameter. Cased in a rose gold open face case with rope twist decorated band. The movement is 58mm, gilt full plate, the balance cock is pierced and has a ruby end-stone, the dial side is beautifully decorated and repeating parts are exposed.

This watch was in rough condition when we received it for restoration. It did not run and the repeat functions were not working. The crystal was wrong and falling out, the movement was loose in the case. The case had holes in it and the bezel was badly torn and warped out of shape, it was paper thin and extremely delicate so it could not be safely repaired in the conventional manor of flame welding. we had Bruce Bullerwell from Lakes Region Jewelers do the case repairs using his laser welding machine, he did a wonderful job. We custom made several parts at our shop that were missing and broken and painstakingly restored the the movements fits and finishes. It is now functioning wonderfully and looks beautiful.

This is a Jln Le Roy, 4 cased, Verge fusee with a Turkish dial that we refinished recently. (other 3 cases not pictured) This watch had nearly every pivot broken and many other parts either broken or completely missing when we started with it.

This is another Jln. Le Roy Verge Fusee with a Turkish dial we repaired recently. It was a joy to have it at our shop.

(Hen' Thompson, JUN #776, pair cased, Verge Fusee with black sea ray leather covered outer case from early to mid 1700s) We completely restored this watch from replacing missing and broken parts to even replacing the sea ray leather on the outer case. This watch was in very poor condition when we received it so we are very happy with how well it turned out.

This Is an old English fusee we made a case for recently.

The case was made entirely from scratch by Denis Carignan owner and head watchmaker of CWCI.

We can make many different styles of cases, this one is relatively simple but it was a fun and interesting project.

George Etherington London fusee

This is a very old pair cased, verge fusee made by George Etherington London. The outer case is covered with green sharkskin (Shagreen) and is made of gold, the inner case is made of gilded bronze. This watch was in very poor condition when we received it, most of it's steel parts such as the springs and screws were all but rusted off. A few of the many repairs that movement needed and we performed were a new center wheel made, new bushings, two new pivots re-pivoted, we made a few springs and several screws replaced. We then removed the scratches and dents from the inner case and plated it with 14k gold. The dial was cleaned and we repainted the markers to make it beautiful again. The outer case was sent to a gentleman in Australia to have the sharkskin (shagreen) on the bezel repaired. The watch now looks and runs wonderful, it was keeping time to within 30 seconds or so a day, not bad for a watch over 300 years old!

The picture on the left is before we serviced it and the one on the right is after we overhauled it and added a diamond dial and diamond bezel.

Gents Rolex Date-Just we recently overhauled. We also replaced the bracelet.

Seth Thomas sub clock. We Cleaned, oiled, re-bushed, we also refinished the hands.

Ingraham Mantle clock.

We completely restored this clock after it was badly damaged in a fire.

Waterbury ships clock.

We Cleaned, oiled, re-bushed, and we also refinished the hands and re-pivoted the balance staff.

Marble mantle clock we completely restored.

Tudor Oyster we restored. The movement and dial were both destroyed from water. We replaced the movement, crystal, crown, case tube, and gaskets, refinished the dial and hands and restored the case and bracelet.

Tavannes Repeater

This is a Swiss made quarter repeater, the name on the dial is Tavannes. The movement is a Le Phare Cal.OV

Rare old fusee ( chain driven ) Duchene Geneva watch restored by CWR, the case is 18k multi-colored gold and is set with mine cut diamonds all around the bezel and back.

Here is a picture of a pendant Denis made. It is made of Sterling silver, and 3 colors of 14k gold. The customer wanted something different to give her boyfriend who is an avid fly fisherman.

Old engraved watch (click for close up) This is one of the prettiest watches I have seen, the movement is engraved all over and the dial was multi colored. It wasn't extremely valuable but surely a beautiful piece of workmanship.

This watch is a 16 size Waltham Vanguard, Lossier inner terminal Hairspring, 23 Jewels, double roller, adjusted to 6 positions, gold jewel settings, up/down wind indicator, lever set.

The watch shown here is similar to the 2 train minute repeater shown and
described on page 547 of Cooksey's 2001 guide. This watch is a 2 train with
tandem wind, independent seconds. The seconds on this
watch are center seconds and jump each second and can be stopped and
started. The watch is pin set and has 51 jewels, The entire train is gold. It is signed Meylan under the
winding bridge. It is in an open face case that is gold.
This is a customers watch and is not for sale.

These are pictures of a new wheel I made for an old English watch that was in very poor condition, the original wheel had a few teeth missing and several bent. The only thing that could be done was to cut a new one. The wheel I made has 76 teeth, module 0.22 and is exactly the same as the original, I spent 3 hours total making this wheel including the time spent setting up the machine, the most time intensive part of the project was facing the wheel and cutting the recess for the maintaining power spring. Keep in mind that I did not make the fusee itself, just the wheel. In the picture above the new wheel is on the left (mounted on fusee), and the original damaged wheel is on the right (not mounted).
